Are your leaders set up for success?

When it comes to driving change with your people or organisational culture, leadership is critical. 

Whether it’s delivering on your strategy, defining and setting the example behaviours for future desired culture or having proactive or constructive conversations around performance, the calibre of your leaders is paramount.

This is relevant for all organisations, but particularly for organisations that are rapidly growing. The expectations for leaders in an organisation of ten, are very different to those in an organisation of 100 or 1000. Are you clear what you expect of your leaders as your organisation evolves?

A leadership assessment (such as Leadership Circle Profile, Hogan or even trusty MBTI) is a good place to start to understand what competencies or behaviours are important, and how each leader rates against those. This assessment will then provide important focus for coaching and feedback conversations, as well as for development plans, that will set this leader and your organisation up for success. Coaching skills are critical for all leaders, whether they are having a conversation as a coachee or building their own coaching capability. This is the key to success empowering individuals to work outside of their comfort zones and reach their potential.

The same leadership assessment can be applied to the most senior leader in an organisation. A founding CEO of a growing organisation will have seen their environment change dramatically. They will have realised that it is physically impossible to stay connected to all of the people and all of the work.  How do they trust and empower their leadership team by delegating key accountabilities that deliver on the organisation’s strategy?  Good leaders are constantly developing, but particularly for Founding CEOs who need to grow with their organisation.  It is a progressive leader who identifies this need and enlists support to not take this path alone, and before it is too late.
