In my role as a consultant, helping organisations clarify and live their purpose has become central to the strategic planning process. It’s not just about what they do or how they do it; it’s about uncovering why they exist—the driving force behind every decision and action.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗵𝘆: I always start with one core question: “Why does this organization exist?” The answer isn’t always simple, but it sharpens the mission and gives everyone—from leadership to the newest hire—a sense of shared direction.
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: To bring the purpose to life, I work with teams through open conversations, workshops, and regular check-ins. This engagement shifts culture, making sure that day-to-day actions align with the company’s broader mission.
𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘀: I encourage clients to use their purpose as a filter for all strategic choices. This keeps their initiatives on track to not only drive profit but also deliver impact that matters.
Measuring Impact: Living out purpose means tracking both business outcomes and social impact. These measurements help ensure that purpose isn’t just a nice idea but something that’s actively shaping the company’s identity.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Purpose needs room to grow and evolve. As the business changes, so should its purpose—this keeps it relevant to new challenges and opportunities.
Defining purpose isn’t about branding; it’s about building something meaningful and lasting.
